The inimitable men of Hot Chip have made a career out of lacing shameless dance pop with hypernerdy, pun-filled lyrics, as if life were an endless school dance and they were the pep squad’s pining trig tutors dancing against the wall. They are the inner stud and outer nerd become one, their honorable intentions expressed with the swag of a thousand bros. The first official single from their new album of the same name is more of the same, with Alexis Taylor asking for total commitment over a lascivious bounce. Can you even grind to Hot Chip or is it on some sidehug shit? So conflicting.
