Weeeeeeird: Sonic Youth to Record Another Full-Length

It seems Sonic Youth doesn't plan to spend 2010 playing golf, curating books on obscure Botswana psych-rock nuggets or making "Gossip Girl" appearances: according to the BBC, the band announced plans to record a follow up to this year's The Eternal, in addition to several other projects. "We're most probably going back into the studio next year," Lee Ranaldo said. Before the band starts work on the new album, however, they will work on the soundtrack for a French teen film. Ranaldo is enthusiastic about the project: "We met the director in Paris and we liked what we saw." The band will also release a DVD that will feature footage from their recent 2007/2008 Daydream Nation tour along with archival footage of them playing the record in 1988. That's what we're enthusiastic about, man.
