Or at least a few contests or grooming tips, right? Guys need a place to talk about things like these with pride. For now, we suppose music is a good start. Let it grow naturally over time (see what we did there?).
Beards aside, if you read our friends over at the FADER's recent cover story on Justin Vernon, then you know that while the man has been all around the world touring in the past few years, his heart has certainly never left Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Well, now he seems to be putting these emotions into the most concrete form yet. VolumeOne announced Justin and his brother (and tour manager) Nate have had plans approved to open up a venue tentatively titled Union College in a building in downtown Eau Claire.
Nate is heading the proposal, which would create a bar and venue on one floor and a performance space on a separate floor that could ideally be used by local artists to come together and use audio and visual equipment for recording or classes. At this point, the brothers have 120 days to secure finances, construction plans and said beard classes for the venue before anything could become official. For now, it seems like a potentially great vehicle to develop local arts, and having Vernon's name on it can't hurt the national draw for a new venue either. (Via: VolumeOne)
