Unfortunately, you can now cross “new Sigur Ros album” off the Things To Look Forward To In 2010 list. There were reports midway through last year that the band had nearly finished an album’s worth of new material and would be releasing it sometime this year. Apparently that plan (along with that music they recorded) has been scrapped with the intention of starting over, but not right away. “We are on a break at the moment,” frontman Jonsí Birgisson told Spinner. “Everybody in the band is having babies.” Luckily their musical clocks have a great deal more time on them than the ole’ biological clocks we imagine, and it’s pretty endearing to think how great/weird these dudes will be at singing some lullabies.
