Stephin Merritt To Find Inner-Nemo (Not That One) While Live-Scoring Classic

Apparently this is a big week in scoring news. The Magnetic Fields' impressive new album Realism was released this week, but that doesn't mean the band members are ready to coast anytime soon: Frontman Stephin Merritt just revealed to Exclaim that he'll be doing a live score for the silent film version of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. The event will take place May 4 at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco (as part of the San Francisco Film Festival). And in case you lost interest once you decided you're a non-Californian who likes your music with words, have we got some news for you. First, Merritt is writing vocals and syncing them with the movement of the actors lips. So there's that. Scondly, he plans to eventually release a recording of the score. The guy seems like he would have a pretty decent Captain Nemo somewhere inside him, too. (Via: P4K)
