Be A Selfish Nerd, Have The Magnetic Fields Do Your Valentine's Day Work For You

It was announced this morning that Merge is planning to re-issue the Magnetic Fields' magnum opus, 1999's 69 Love Songs, in a behemoth box set come April 20th. A few things:

1.) Considering the original was comprised of three CDs, it'd be wise of you to start making some room in your bedroom (no better place!) for the TEN 10" platters and thick slab of clever packaging in which they'll lovingly be housed. Doesn't matter all that much what you displace, though don't even think about shifting your Belle and Sebastian LPs. Don't do it.

2.) The box set will come with a now requisite mp3 coupon. That is helpful.

3.) It will also include the original set's booklet, blown up so as to be congruent with the vinyl. It would look weird if it was still CD-size.

4.) Perhaps most importantly (for this headline, anyway,) should you elect to pre-order the box set now, you'll receive a $10 discount as well as a Valentine's Day e-card, which you can also print out. Depending on where you shop for your Russell Stovers, the $89.98 price tag is steep, we know. But this is 69 Love Songs, dudes. If for whatever reason, they're not into the e-card this year, you can find somebody with lower expectations. And you know, hopefully they'll accept a burned copy next year.
