Tom Waits Forms Dream Team For Upcoming Stage Musical, Growls

WaitsWe admit that Green Day’s musical bit at the Grammys didn’t get us all that stoked for the whole rock n’ roll musical so much as it just made us feel awkward. Thankfully, Tom Waits seems too odd to ever create anything that might absorb the cheesiest parts of Glee. That said, Twenty-Four Bit is reporting that Waits is teaming up with director Robert Wilson yet again for a new stage musical project. The two collaborated on Alice and Wonderland, The Black Rider and Wayneck previously. This time the duo will also join forces with acclaimed writer/director Martin McDonagh and are slated to premier the project sometime next year in Paris. This project remains untitled, but we’ve got high hopes it will eventually lead to some quality music being released.

You ignorant, misguided dolt! for the record, Tom Waits collaborated with Robert Wilson on a stage production ‘loosely’ based on Alice Liddell, the young girl who was the obsession and muse of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland books. The show was NOT ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Also, his other ‘musical/opera/play’ was titled “WOYZECK” (not WAYNECK your Hillbilly boyfriend from the sticks) and is written by Georg Büchner which incidentally has become one of the most performed and influential plays in the German theatre repertory.
