Stream: Joanna Newsom, “Kingfisher”

February 09, 2010

The nice thing about Joanna Newsom is that her albums feel like events, not just some shit that we're totally going to check out streaming on MySpace this weekend. When the last song got leaked, we were getting emails from co-workers at obscene hours being like DUDE JAM THIS IT IS SERIOUS DID YOU LISTEN TO THIS?!? IF YOU DID DO IT AGAIN. "Kingfisher" is the newest track to appear in that little Drag City streaming player in the upper right hand corner, and it's considerably more lush than the stark "81." Is it possible that Have One on Me is going to be the best of both worlds for Joanna Newsom fans? It'll be just like the R. Kelly/Jay-Z collabos except instead of half of Jay's face and half of Kells', it'll just be Newsom's face with a line down the middle and maybe Van Dyke Parks lurking in the background.
