We've always known that Robert Smith is a big Tim Burton fan, but Smith takes his crush to new heights with "Very Good Advice," his contribution to Almost Alice, an Alice In Wonderland tribute album. Smith's cover of the 1951 Disney classic puts a lid on the creepy, depressing tone of the original and, if anything, the updated version is almost uplifting—more Cheshire Cat than weepy pencil-birds. Although perennial Burton fave Danny Elfman recorded the film's actual soundtrack, Smith's topsy-turvy synth take on classic Cure is probably just as likely to send you down the rabbit hole. Hear for yourself.
Almost Alice is out 3/2 via Buena Vista.
