Album Art Rodeo: Whatever We Say Against Me! and MGMT Are, They Are Not

We've always felt MGMT seem to take themselves pretty seriously, which is perfectly fine. They also told SPIN that psychedelic drugs had a huge influence on their upcoming album, which contains a twelve-minute ode to surfing the Arctic Circle, or something. So logically, this supposed artwork for Congratulations (done by Anthony Ausgang) looks sort of like an acid-ridden bonus level from Sonic The Hedgehog wherein Tails morphs into a tidal wave and tries to eat him.

While Against Me! have obviously gone through some landscape changes over time, we've always felt they landed generally in the earnest working-class realm as dudes. They obviously had a lot of man-hating (the thing you either stick it to or work for, not the gender) to get out of their system, but they still always felt like guys that would pull a girl's chair out and buy her a beer before they went on an anti-government rant. But their new album cover hints more at, well, breasts is what the kids are calling them these days. And her face is blurred out? (Via: SPIN via Blogspot)
