Xiu Xiu Are Charitable

Earlier this week, I waxed nostalgic/ecstatic about how great Xiu Xiu (and their new album, Dear God, I Hate Myself) still are. Well, it's as if the band read the post (not likely) and broadcast even more of the vibrations we all need. A press release just crossed our desks this morning announcing the beginning of Xiu Xiu's mammoth US tour (dates after the cut) -- and while the band's hitting the road, they'll also be asking for donations to the worthwhile San Francisco-based charity At the Crossroads, which aims to help youth on the street through counseling, outreach, and other services.

But that's not all: if you donate, Xiu Xiu have some pretty sweet incentives prepared for you! If you donate $1 at the show, you can get a group picture with everyone else who donated that night after the show. $5 will get you a postcard from the band sent from the open road, $10 will get you a picture of the band on tour (complete with a description of what was going on before and after said photo). For high rollers, the going only gets better: if you pitch in $30, Xiu Xiu will mail you any random thing bought while on tour, while a $50 donation will be rewarded with a special collection of Xiu Xiu photos taken by photographer David Horvitz.

The icing on the layered weirdo cake? If there's more than $5,000 donated, Xiu Xiu will release a brand spankin' new collaborative joint with High Places' Mary Pearson. Get yr charity on, people!
