Vampy Weeks Returned to SNL, Ezra Koenig Speaking Tonight at New York Public Library

In a Galifianakified episode of SNL that fell depressingly flat in the middle, Vampire Weekend proved dependable. The foursome breezed through Contra‘s two singles, “Cousins” and “Giving Up The Gun,” like a business meeting. Ezra looked like a man possessed. The Christophers looked like they were enjoying themselves. Rostam broke out a new guitar strap. We went to bed much happier than we would have had Ke$ha been the musical guest.

ALSO: Mr. Koenig will be discussing “lyrics, literature and cross pollination” with author John Wray tonight at the New York Public Library, as part of their Young Lions Forum. You may be familiar with Wray’s novels The Right Hand of Sleep, Canaan’s Tongue or, most recently, Lowboy. Not to get too nerdy, but all of those are great and tonight should be as well. Starts at 8 pm in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. Find a map here.

More video after the humpty dump.
