Who knows how we’ll be feeling about this stuff in a couple years. As it stands it already exists as a weird meeting point of music made by people that grew up with the internet. Where it wasn’t costly to download every screw tape ever while jamming out to Cocteau Twins b-sides with “Laffy Taffy” playing on TV in the background, or something. Basically “drag”—as it’s being called—makes songs wet-cement slow. 3-6 Mafia (they’re having quite a day) predicted this by about a billion years, and it still sounds like nothing we ever want to hear again—in a good way!
