In light of this recent WaPo article on the disappearance of Go-Go, the congas popping everywhere and chorus by the Backyard Band's Weensey on "Pretty Girls" have a bittersweet ring. For some odd reason, many in the FADER family have history in the nation's capital and a soft spot for the city's only homegrown music. We also have a soft spot for Wale ever since our feature on him way back in early 2007. Maybe he'll be the torchbearer for Go-Go going into the future or maybe his major label people will try to squeeze the nature of his music out of it to appeal to a broader base. The latter seems like a not great idea. Until then, we have to see Fab sounds a lot better on this than Gucci did on the original, so if someone can edit his verse in there and take Breezy out altogether, we should be in good shape.
