Google image search Friendo and you’ll come up with a shitload of Javier Bardem photos. Awesome every time. Most likely taking their name from Bardem’s line in the Coen Brothers’ adaptation of No Country For Old Men, Friendo are a Calgary three-piece whose Mike Wallace also plays in Women. St. Ives is preparing to release a limited vinyl run (plus digital!) of Cold Toads, their self-released cassette from a few months back. “Oversees” sits dead smack in the center, its cyclical, Sonic Youth-indebted rumble as good an entry point as any for a record you’ll need the minute you can have it May 21st.
