Check for updates on what your parent’s favorite musicians are doing in our weekly Parental Advisory post. This week’s soul pioneer still making a stamp on music: Bill Withers.
Even out of the spotlight with no new music Bill Withers is like the sun, always shining. Mr. Withers can kick his feet up at 71-years-old having scoured the corners of his soul for the brooding loneliness he famously channelled into the blues he hollered on "Ain't No Sunshine," and "Use Me."
He was a straight shooter in delievering the bad news on "Ain't No Sunshine," not to mention how he repeated "I know" over and over until you believed that there will be dark days ahead. Still that timeless record yielded brighter days, decades in fact of sampling his classics for TV and movies, bringing us to Still Bill, a new DVD capturing his career that went on sale yesterday. The past is as important as continuing his legacy with more songs. Watch the trailer below.
