Although he’s been around for awhile, Yo Gotti has been enjoying a career renaissance lately. Cocaine Muzik 4 is still one of the more entertaining mixtapes we heard this year. His guest appearances on The Clipse’s “Showin Out” and the just released “Beamer Benz or Bentley” remix have been significant highlights of the respective songs. “Look in the Mirror,” produced by Shawty Redd, grasps at the ridiculousness of songs like Jeezy’s “Who Dat,” and while it doesn’t quite match up, it doesn’t need to. Gotti’s voice is a softer rasp than Jeezy’s. Even when he sounds angry, there’s an undercurrent of regret and a tinge of insecurity, like even though he believes what he’s rapping he wishes he didn’t have to.
