This is unexpected news. The Vaselines formed in 1987 and released one pretty killer full-length along with some scattered singles to little fanfare. Then, over time (and with some help from influential voices like Kurt Cobain), their legend and regard grew and grew, long after they had bowed out of making music. This is obviously not a unique story within the arts and entertainment. But for a band to experience this and then dive back into that world is another thing. They’ve decided, after 20 years, to release a new record. Sex With An X drops September 12th on Sub Pop. If you're wondering how 20 years has changed the band, they're offering a cut from the album entitled "I Hate The 80's" you can check out for yourself here.
