Rinse FM’s Triumphant Radio License Broadcast

June 18, 2010

For 16 years, London radio station Rinse FM has been unleashing some of the the most cutting edge beats in the world, amassing an impeccable roster of DJ/producers, releasing incredible mixtapes and perpetually shifting the vernacular of forward-thinking dance music. But for 16 years, it's been operating illegally on pirate frequencies—until now. Yesterday, the station's founder, immensely respected DJ/producer Geeneus, told the world on Scratcha DVA's show that finally, Rinse was going above ground, having finally been awarded an FM license. Below, the triumphant announcement (which will literally send chills up your spine), plus a terrific drum 'n' bass song that we can't identify since our resident Brit '90s dnb head Chioma is out of the office today. To Rinse, we offer a congratulations and a sincere thank you for making our lives more awesome with your podcasts. Also, a plea: send more of your DJs to New York!
