Stalker, 48 Mix

June 21, 2010

It is hot as balls in New York right now. Yesterday was oppressively humid and today is better, but people outside are cranky. Normally our stance on that is more in the Dudebros! It is summer! Relax! Eat outside! zone, but after listening to this mix by Stalker—which pretty much drags every song into a sweaty, humid pit of crawling vocals and blown out bass that steamrolls all the good vibes right out of our system, we're rethinking our entire life philosophy. At the same time though, it's wildly appealing in a way a lot of this drag stuff hasn't been so far. We admit that we'll always be curious what The-Dream sounds like slowed down to a sluggish creep, but this is the first we've heard with a distinct eye for composition and flow beyond the basic: WHAT WOULD EVERYTHING SOUND LIKE IF IT WAS WAY DARKER? slant of the past. Tracklist after the jump.
