Of Montreal's Latest = False Priest

In early May, some of us were down in Atlanta covering Converse's Band of Ballers tournament for our brohams over at The Fader. In a very brief, Flip Cam'd locker room interview with of Montreal, we couldn't help but notice that brainchief Kevin Barnes was nowhere to be seen. We were informed that while his bandmates (and brother) were preparing to be smacked around on the basketball court, Shields was out in California putting finishing touches on their new record. Word's out today that Polyvinyl will release False Priest, on False Priest, the Athens outfit's forthcoming LP and one Barnes polished up with producer/composer/Fiona Apple co-conspirator Jon Brion. It's due September 14, and, if you head over here, you can download first single "Coquet Coquette". The song is one of the brawnier cuts we've heard Barnes pen and it'll only cost you your e-mail address. Not a bad way to kick off the week.
