Though a press bio will rarely blow your hair back, that's exactly what Moneybrother's does. It's the solo project of Stockholm's Anders Win, a genre-pureeing Swede who in addition to already having a Grammy and gold records under his belt, has a line of organic tomato soup in his name as well. Real Control marks the first time one of his records will see Stateside release and "Down at the R" is its crown jewel, a tuneful, time-traveling hybrid that boasts all the elements that makes Win's brand of "pub soul" so irresistible: slices of Northern Soul, 80s pop polish and a vocal presence that somehow manages to marry those of Joe Strummer, Billy Bragg and The Boss with few seams and even more success. It's actually not at as complicated (read: nerdy) or hectic as that equally hectic and complicated sentence lets on. It's just really, really, dangerously good.
