Video: The-Dream, “Trilogy”

June 30, 2010

For the first four minutes of this Motion Family-directed video, Dream splits the difference between Robert Palmer's girls and The Revolution in one of his Prince-iest songs, "Yamaha." For the last 10 minutes, during "Nikki Pt. 2" and "Abyss," he stars in his own short movie, complete with consistent leading lady, dramatic plot points and, um, creative cinematography, all the while emitting sexy boy-next-door vibes. Could The-Dream be transitioning into acting, perhaps? At the very least, someone needs to cast him in Law & Order. His third album, the effervescent Love King, dropped yesterday, and he celebrated it with us at our Summer Music issue party in Manhattan, ending a short set with the all-summer-everything anthem "Make-Up Bag." We don't know what happened after that because we fainted from happiness and screaming too hard.
