Listen: Grinderman, "Heathen Child"

The swampy first single from the latest Grinderman album sounds like Nick Cave's writing his own Necronomicon, breathless emotional pleas unleashed to raise the bloodthirstiest of vengeful dead as playthings for his scary protagonist, the girl sittin on the bathtub suckin her thumb. (Edit: uuuuuuhhh.) He got King Crimson guitar maestro Robert Fripp on the B-side, too, which means neither gods nor devils (Edit: uuuuuuuuuuuuuh) will be able ignore the virtuosity of his demonic tale. Wonder if hanging out with Cave is as creepy as listening to his music? Seems like he might be the kind of dude who holds his hand over candles at dinner just to test his own pain threshold. Or maybe that's just what he wants us to think. The guy who directed The Road just shot a video for this song, so it should be fairly nightmarish in the exact way we want it to be.
