You should know DJ Evil Dee's career as one third of Black Moon. Being instrumental as a producer and turntablist has been part of Duck Down Record's legendary 15 years, which makes his résumé way more than a page—respect is due. What you may not know: his role in New York nightlife in the early 2000s up to now has made him one of the world's most untouchable DJs—up there with his crew of party rockers DJ Beverly Bond, Butta L and DJ Premier from one of the last historic weekly hip-hop parties at Joe's Pub. The impact of his residency with Suite903 mixtape alum DJ Beverly Bond recreated the jazzy aesthetic of Digable Planets after the hoodie and timbs steez dominated The Tunnel, Club Speed and Club New York. In a recent interview he spoke on one of his last great gigs and the star power it had that has yet to be recreated today.
