Built to Spill Heard that You and Your Band Sold Your Guitars and Bought Synthesizers. (So They Did, Too)

After years of writing great songs that everyone agrees were somehow ruined in the translation from page to tape, Built to Spill have finally figured out how they've been fucking up the execution of every single song they've ever recorded: guitars! So Doug Martsch and Brett Nelson created the Electronic Anthology Project, a side project devoted to re-recording BTS songs using synths and drum machines, and then anagramming the shit out of the songs' original titles. They've put together a 7-song EP for now that will be on sale at upcoming BTS shows, but you can hear one track right now, "Eels" (or "Else"; that one was likely easier than the other six). It's about time one of indie rock's most heavily guitar-identified bands let go of the crutch and branched out a little. Hopefully now we can just sit back and wait for a J Mascis' dubstep album.
