Sleeping Bags, “Cantaloupe” MP3

August 03, 2010

Sounding like the fuzzed-out Manchester shoegazer dudes you discovered off an old recording of 120 Minutes, Sleeping Bags fully parked their Long Beach roots at the recording studio door and immersed themselves in overdriven, foggy beauty when they cut "Cantaloupe." They clearly ripped a page from Phil Spector's playbook, too—don't think you can hide those "Be My Baby" toms, dudes—and, like the systematic obscuring of their instruments, they're not too concerned with showing their faces, either... pics of the full band are scarce and their MySpace is frustratingly bare. We do know for sure, though, that this is the side proj of LA multitasker Matt Kivel, and the track's coming out on Jodie & Victor in August.
