We Support You, Fergus & Geronimo

Ok, so all the bands in the blogosphere won't soon be beach-blown doo-wop revivalists--is that what you're telling us? Is that what this morning is going to be about? Don't tell us that Fergus & Geronimo love Frank Zappa. Fergus & Geronimo, a duo of Texans masquerading as Cobble Hill residents, make pop songs, cute pop songs, pop songs that might reach a bit lyrically but have ruefully memorable choruses--their Never Satisfied/Turning Blue 7", out October 26, makes that much clear. "Scrubbing: this is for atonement," opens the a-side a little Lady Macbeth-ishly, if we do say so, and then proceeds to jangle along amicably before turning it over to the stunner b-side "Turning Blue," a cover of a Pac Man picture-disc song that the band chose to point out was "an 80s novelty non-hit." Wow, ironic taste! Those Denton boys know half our tricks already. [via GvB]
