Earlier today, the Park Avenue Armory was set up more like an abandoned warehouse than a fashion week event, a dark and foreboding spot for a spring collection from normally sunny 3.1 Phillip Lim. But the dim atmosphere was quick to dissipate as Lim paraded a healthy dose of light, carefree fare down the runway. This season, he said he was inspired by a Charlotte Gainsbourg song called "Dandelion"—the line "She walks crooked and paints her eyelids blue" in particular. Lim interpreted Gainsbourg's references to eye shadow by using subtle shades of blue throughout the collection, but the crooked walking lady in Gainsbourg's song also turned up as a metaphor, manifested in layers and layers of asymmetry. More images after the jump.
