Probably one of the cooler things about CFCF is how he just stayed making his own eminently listenable, weirdly hard to classify music in his corner of Canada until people started taking notice, and now like a billion dudes are all on the same shit but very few of them do it as well as he does. “Before and After Light” is the first song from his upcoming EP The River on RVNG. It builds really slowly, and somehow manages to incorporate what sounds like a sharp, mean library whisper into its subdued drama. It also sounds kinda vintage, like a forgotten track from the middle of an ’80s film score where a guy is doing something shady with floppy disks at night in a hospital or lab.
