Video Premiere: Homeboy Sandman, “Calm Tornado”

This is an eerie song to begin with—the calm tornado aspect illustrated by Homeboy Sandman‘s subdued mouth-whooshing on the chorus amid scenes of destruction. But add in the way he’s saying his lyrics—grave, matter of fact, leaving lots of space for the beat—and you’ve got a track as creepily teetering as the video, smart, staccato and hella ominous. After you’re done freaking out on this, go watch Homeboy’s performance at the FADER Fort this weekend, he ripped it.

This is my absolute favorite song on the album. So Thought provoving! This video is just as intricate and heterogeneous as the song itself. What an awesome combination of lyrical genius and incredible cinematography!

  4. Homeboy Sandman is my partner from waaaaay back. Always had a wacky imagination and a ridiculous vocabulary. I love how its all matured. Keep doin’ ya thang, baby!
