Not too long ago, we shared a collection of videos made by NPR of German composer Hauschka demonstrating his intricate and idiosyncratic approach to the piano. Those clips illustrated in a very straightforward manner the intellectual rigor of Hauschka’s technique and were fascinating. This new video, directed by Jeff Desom, does the same in a tangled, fictional fashion, possibly to relate the hard labor required to make music that sounds so natural and effortless.
