It’s fun reading the adjectives people throw around to talk about Holy Other: “hyper-masculine,” “shadow builder,” “putting the GOTH in Gothenburg.” But his latest remix for Asobi Seksu nearly disrupts that characterization, whatever it is. The way Asobi’s version—available here—is the scary one, and Holy’s take is quite pretty. It’s pitched down, obviously, but there’s something so clear about his remix, an emotional precision the original lacks, the simple line of a well-cut synth. It’s fun listening to Holy Other: still sounds like monk drone, maybe also picks a lot of flowers.
