11,000 Square Feet of Momofuku Cookies Make Us Rethink Our Career Choice, Life in General

January 12, 2011

Look, we love that part of our duty here at FADER is to think a lot about Chrisette Michelle's a capella improvisations or whatever, but really what we care about is cookies. Seriously, we fucking love cookies. So we have spent a good deal of time at semi-new Manhattan institute Momofuku's Milk Bar (cookie store) eating sweets. But that place is pretty tiny and sometimes there is a line, so we buy the box of $2.50 ones at Whole Foods or get a little fancy and pick up something at Billy's. So, cool, we got a cookie fetish, NBD. But when we saw this video tour of Momofuku's new gigantic Brooklyn warehouse on The Feast and pastry chef Christina Tosi talks about the "cookie captain" we realized it's basically time to rethink where we are going with this whole "caring about anything that doesn't come from lots of sugar/flour and go into an industrial mixer" thing. Bonus: they're not pompous despite their newfound space and fame. "We're still the same staff, really exited about cookies and cakes and pies." Our people! No offense Chrisette.
