Marnie Stern's most recent self titled record caused us to flip our shit a little bit. It was basically a brief album full of concise but tangled stadium rock with huge choruses and insanely intricate guitar. Stern has actually always been on that track, it just took a little while for her to fully realize the goal. Listening to this demo tape—which includes earlier versions of previously released songs—it's clear just how long Stern has been working on the little details that turn her music from inaccessible guitar freakouts to the beautiful anthems she's arrived at today. It's always been there, it's just more pronounced now. Get the tape (which comes with a download code) from Dog Daze Tapes.
