Video: Nicki Minaj f. Drake, “Moment 4 Life”

Once Upon a Time we loved to watch video shows on MTV, but now those programs don't exist and we love watching weird rap mini movies on the internet. Around the world in the next year(s) this video will play on real televisions in bars on beaches and everywhere else, but around tumblr in the next couple hours people are going to make amazing gifs of the part where Martha goes "It's Martha" and the camera jumps between her and Nicki/Cinderella while godmama makes a thizz noise/face and Minaj cackles and says YOU ARE CRAAAZY. The first-verse sequence that follows that, before the fireworks wedding and euro-emo breakdown around the fifteenth chorus, is one of the most mental, actually enviable scenes of the camp-luxury rap life we've seen imagined a rap video since "Been Around The World" or "Honey." Minaj is a million times more a woman in her fiercely modest aqua gown than the Jasmine character Disney spent a generation dreaming up and peddling. She kills all parts of her act; eye contact, shoulder sway, pout grizzle and wig sweeping. This what it is, all of her accents still have a strong "Queens" element, no? Maybe we just want to hear it?
