Exclusive: Jessie Ware and Sampha’s Valentines Day FADER Mix MP3

February 14, 2011

When I'm alone in my room, sometimes I stare at the wall, and in the back of my mind I hear my conscience call, telling me I need a girl who's as sweet as a dove. For the first time in my life, I see I need love. Or, failing that, an exclusive Valentines day mixtape from Jessie Ware and Sampha. Today they release their duet "Valentine" on Young Turks. It's out on heart-shaped vinyl (so cute!) and has a pretty video by Marcus Soderland. Tune into the Boiler Room Young Turks special later to see them perform alongside Jamie XX and special guests. Jessie and Sampha made us a lovely mixtape and because their song deals with real world romance (rather than the Sex Me kind) we asked them to play agony aunt and uncle. Grab the mix here and read their advice for lonely teens under the jump.

Jessie Ware and Sampha's Valentine's Day FADER Mix

Jessie and Sampha, here are some "real readers" love problems borrowed from a teen magazine. Please provide honest advice to these poor souls:

"My boyfriend is always trying to kiss me but I'm really afraid I'm going to be bad so it ends up on the cheek. Please help!"
Jessie: Read a Judy Blume novel.
Sampha: Just kiss him.

"I can't get over my ex. It's been four months and I still talk to his friends and family, but he won't speak to me. I've heard that he's been slagging me off too, but I just can't get over him."
Jessie: Listen to Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" and chant to yourself, "To the left, to the left"—you'll be over him by the end of the song.
Sampha: I suggest "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. There's more fish in the sea. You meet someone else someone else, and forget about him soon enough.

"I like this boy who's a really close friend and he likes me too, but he has a girlfriend. He wanted to cheat on her with me and said she wouldn't find out. She has already cheated on him—what can I do?"
Jessie: Sit him down and play him "Don't Wanna Be A Player No More"—ask him if he is Joe or Big Pun.

"I met a boy on holiday in Wales, and I think he liked me too, but we never even talked. I don't even know his name. I can't get him off my mind. Do you think I have any chance of finding him?"
Jessie: No, sorry.
