This Week in The FADER: May 8, 2011 Edition

May 08, 2011

** We interviewed Big Kap, Biggie's first tour DJ, for FADER #73. In the summer of ’95 Kap headed out to San Francisco with Biggie and some of Junior M.A.F.I.A to perform at the annual KMEL Summer Jam. But what was set to be a hugely successful headlining show, turned out to be a challenge in light of the extreme heat. Kap's records melted and Biggie threw a water bottle at him. We have exclusive video of that day—watch it go down.

** Ma, You Be Killin Em: We celebrated Mother's Day all week long with a series of posts about our moms' style, swagger and grace.

** Osama Bin Laden was killed and Lil B the Based God was thanked on Fox News.

** Odd Future announced plans to strip their tumblr of music.

** After repeatedly having a wild time at his gigs, we hit up Brenmar to make a mix especially for the FADER. He cooked up a doozy. Get his Gold Bricks FADER Mix.

** To highlight the clothes currently inhabiting our fantasy wardrobe, we asked our extended family of photographers, stylists and models to help us showcase some of the best threads around. Each edition of our brand new program, STYLED by FADER, will feature a different brand’s seasonal collection that is at the top of our most wanted list. This week, we brought you Wood Wood. See the collection in our new full-screen photo viewer!

** Washed Out came back with his debut full length Within and Without. Hear a new song, "Eyes be Closed."
