Keyboard Kid’s Video Games and Blunts Vol. 1 Mixtape

June 06, 2011

Keyboard Kid, who self-identifies as Lil B's "main producer," turns in a new mixtape, Video Games and Blunts Vol. 1. It proves he's not going to have to use another artist's name to define his own for very long. It's a beat tape, certainly, but in instrumental form, his songs are textured and multivalent, wandering across genre from song to song, often having as much in common with Zomby as Bangladesh. While Keyboard Kid has great allegiance to his synthesizers, he's also an adept user of hard, complex drums. Check "$$$$" and "Let Me Abduct U" for examples of those. These are, as Young L would say, alien slaps. Looking forward to hearing people rap on them.
