Every Time a Good New York Rap Song Comes Out We Wonder How There are Bad Ones

June 17, 2011

Okay not really, because like every other genre in every city ever anywhere, there is some not so great shit being made. But considering rap music started here, it'd be cool if it was still as vital as it once was. In the last few days, we've seen a couple good jams come from New Yorkers though, first Noz posted the above freestyle (conveniently titled "Freestyle") by D-Block affiliate Large Amount, who sounds like he's been holed up in a bunker listening exclusively to old Mobb Deep records, and now 50 Cent has a new song called "Outlaw," which pretty much sounds like a lot of other songs that came out of New York during G-Unit’s supreme reign over the city.
