Video: Melted Toys, “Neuzone”

July 13, 2011

At heart, Melted Toys make uneasy music. Not that "Neuzone" is going to give you the jitters, but at points it feels like the dense psych rock is lulling you into hypnotic complacency. It's an interesting trick that results somewhere between calm and expectation, and it's paired nicely with a video, directed by Lionel Guzman, who makes it seem like we're watching the proceedings through a bizarre shaped hole in a wall. Melted Toys are playing with Real Estate and Dominant Legs in San Francisco at The Independent on August 2nd and Guzman has an art show at the Skylight Gallery through July 30th.
