Curren$y’s Verde Terrace Mixtape

August 23, 2011

It's just a new Curren$y tape, don't expect any curveballs. Do expect intricately penned and relaxed rhymes about how chill he is at chilling. One point though—on "Smoke Sum'n" he raps over Outkast's "Elevators." Folks tend to point at Camp Lo as the genesis of the Jets aesthetic and the Ski connection likely has a lot to do with that, but it seems like, as a Southerner, that middle period Dungeon Family would be equally influential in smoothing everything out. Come to think of it, that fogginess of Atliens was about fifteen years early, roughly predicting everything from Drake to Main Attrakionz. I'd like to think that's exactly what dude on the cover is listening to over his breakfast. Also: step up your font game, Curren$y's designer.
