On 2007′s West Coast Vaccine Turf Talk bragged I don’t drop mixtapes they wait for this here. That album was Turf’s second full fledged masterpiece of futuristic Bay Area slaps and evidence that this revolutionary model of not dropping mixtapes was actually sort of wise. Sadly, he hasn’t dropped an album in the time since and, reneging on that promise, Return Of The Jedi is his second half-baked underground this year. It’s the half bakiest of half baked underground concepts, too—the dreaded karaoke freestyle to radio records. Turf Talk Meets Lex Luger Inna Dub Style. Still even in this low gear Turfy has one of the most original voices in rap and hearing him bend that rasp around the hits of today warrants a listen. Maybe now that he’s gotten the mixtape out of his system he can hit the studio with Rick Rock (who should be twice as famous as Luger) and put together another epic long player. We’ll be waiting for that there.

Wasn’t that most infamous line of his stretching the truth somewhat anyway since he dropped Turf Talk Brings The Hood Colabilation ‘tape betwixt his 2 albums?
That low rent cover art is not a good look. Keep a designer on your payroll people!
Pretty disappointed by this one. You’re right it is super half baked and the fact that there is an interlude in between just about every song is real annoying to me.
