It’s weird, but we’re on the fence about the fact that SL Jones (or anyone for that matter) decided to rap over Clams Casino’s Rainforest EP. Considering the dude made his name, you know, producing for rappers, this shouldn’t really be a stretch—but it is. Maybe because these songs were made specifically to be instrumentals, and at points you can tell—it’s hard to overpower some of the more lush moments. Nevertheless it’s an interesting experiment with some bright moments.

ahahaha oh my god this blows
firstly, jacking beats probably isn’t cool in the first place (esp. from a big hype artist like clams). secondly, the least you could do is mix your voice at a respectable volume level over the beats you jack. thirdly, these clams beats are way too good for this dude.
Wow what the fuck is this? Fader step your game up. If I sing falsetto over the in da club beat are you gonna post that too? This is a fucking insult.
doesn’t really feel like “jacking beats” is the best descriptor for this? anyway, i thought there was some pretty cool stuff here. “paradise falls”, “concrete wave”, particularly.
jesus christ did he deliberately turn the gain up to max? this sounds like pure shit. fader, this is completely fucked that you even posted this. complete garbage rapping and he ruined the mix with crackles.
thank you to “The Fader” for showing support for this EP. I’m Seth Firkins, SL Jones’ engineer (please google for discog/credits) and tracked/mixed/mastered this project. i’d like everyone to kneaux, this isnt a “beat-jacking” project. SL was inspired by Clams’ production and approached me abt doing a 5 song EP ….thank you again for giving folks a chance to hear REAL music, and instead of listening to this with your ears, its truly Much easier if you use your soul.
