Video: Producer Supergroup Records Benefit Album with Congolese Artists

October 05, 2011

Over the summer ten producers flew to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo to record an album with Congolese musicians. Sort of mentioned this before, but it's still rad and now there's a full music video. The traveling producers were led by Gorillaz' Damon Albarn and included Actress, Dan the Automator, Richard Russell from XL, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Jneiro Jarel and more, and they linked up with over 50 local artists. The collaborative record is available digitally now via Warp, with all proceeds benefiting Oxfam's work in the DRC. "Hallo" is the first video, filmed in and around the studio in Kinshasa, and it features massively soothing contributions from Tout Puissant Mukalo and Nelly Limey. It jams! Unsurprisingly!
