Last night, following a two hour interrogation, dancehall singer Vybz Kartel was slapped with a second murder charge, related to the death of Clive "Lizard" Williams. Williams was killed August 16th in Havendale, about 20 miles northeast of Kartel's native Portmore neighborhood. Williams' body has not yet been found. Another man, Kiro Jones, was also charged with murder. Assistant Police Commissioner Ealan Powell told the Jamaica Gleaner that Kartel is currently under investigation, "in connection with a number of murders, shootings and gun running." Kartel's lawyer, Michael Deans, told the Jamaica Observer that the performer is "shocked at these baseless allegations, but has the greatest confidence in the judiciary and the legal system."

Kartel was first charged with the murder of 27-year-old businessman Barring "Bossie" Burton, conspiracy to murder and illegal gun possession on October 3rd. He has been in jail since then, and is scheduled to return to court on October 26th.
