Ever since "I'll Kill Her" was first recorded in a dressing room somewhere, Soko’s had a surprising career, or maybe a non-career, or maybe just a very fragile one, reflecting her singing voice. In 2009 she changed her MySpace username to "Soko is dead" and motto to "I QUIT," and she moved from France to LA to pursue acting, seemingly leaving music. Good things must have happened, though, albeit slowly: she's currently filming two movies and her website announces a debut album, I Thought I Was An Alien, out February 20th of next year. Today Nowness premiered a video for Alien's title track, filmed by Spike Jonze and directed by the singer. Thankfully she doesn't sound any different.
