You don't often hear about Grieg in conjunction with contemporary popular music, but Norwegian collective Young Dreams sees its elder statesman as a primary influence. "This was our attempt to make a song with a focus on late romantic harmonies and arrangements, kind of like a homage to how people composed back in the days, inspired by Grieg's lyric pieces." Love that Young Dreams' back in the day is is more 1890s than 1990s. Irony! The collective's debut will be out on Modular in 2012.
