Joe Blow f. Lil Rue and The Jacka, “Couldn’t Be a Better Player” MP3

joeblow3

Joe Blow, the first new artist to release material on Jacka’s The Artist Records label, holds his own on “Couldn’t Be a Better Player,” the only collaboration (as far as I’m aware) between DJ Fresh and The Jacka, two of the Bay’s most prolific stars. Its thunderous, bass-heavy and Jam & Lewis-inspired beat keeps teasing release, so it feels like the chorus of the S.O.S. Band’s “Just Be Good To Me” will drop at any moment. There is also a slurred verse from skilled syrup addict Lil Rue, while Jacka shifts from a familiar old school flow into a rare double-time familiar to fans of the rapper’s “Heavy Rain.” Blow’s newest record, International Blow, is out now.

Tight song. Jacka and DJ Fresh did a song together on his Tonite Show: The Album from ’09 called “We Still Here” also, not sure why they haven’t collaborated more.

It’s good to see things are happening for JB, I have followed on twitter, and hope to hear more.

  6. Yeah this song is fantastic. I’m glad to see Joe Blow’s new tape getting good press, I’ve been enjoying the shit out of it.

@ Thomas “We Still Here” is a great track as well, and I honestly didn’t even find it until this past summer.
