Brooklyn Bound: High Places Interview at The Arm

November 30, 2011

There’s a great American tradition of New York being a welcoming port and FADER teamed up with Converse’s new Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn to further it. Once a month, we’ll be welcoming touring artists to the neighborhood with a visit to a local Brooklyn institution, as well as making time for an intimate performance. Catch that exclusive show, interview and MP3s right here.

The front room of Williamsburg’s The Arm is roughly the size of a half basketball court and is stocked with printing presses both new and old (or vintage), where print enthusiasts rent time on the massive machines completing school assignments and also personal projects. The room also happens to be where High Places played their very first show, hosted by friend and proprietor of The Arm, Daniel Morris, who the group knows through the dearly departed Beau Velasco of The Death Set. Being back inside the shop stirred a wealth of memories, more labored than musical, but no less fulfilling in the specter of creation. Rob, whose work history includes an extended period as a lithography teacher, at one point actually said, "I'm not a musician," to which we balked, to which he blushed, to which we all laughed and continued talking about days of High Places printing 7-inch covers in that very shop. Stay tuned for an exclusive MP3 from their performance at Rubber Tracks.
